Wet-On-Wet Techniques, Layering Watercolors & Gouache Techniques

In this video I guide you through the process of my painting “Vienna” (another of Heather Long’s cool book characters) while I talk about  wet-on-wet techniques, layering watercolors without lifting paint off, the right consistency of gouache paint, and  different gouache paint strokes! 

I painted this on the W&N Professional 10×14 in Hot Pressed Satin Watercolor Color Paper Block which is a very good paper to work on, I used it almost entirely up and that means I like it!

My Sketch: I created this sketch by using the Photoshop filter “Photocopier” and then inverted the colors (because the filter sometimes makes it black) – I then printed the sketch on my watercolor paper with the Canon PRO-1000 which prints waterproof.
