This video shows the full painting process of my painting Kriemhild. The special thing about this painting is that I painted it on the old Fabriano paper, which has a different sizing. It doesn’t allow for any color lifting, which guarantees that the watercolor paint stays in the paper 100% without the need to use staining watercolors. This creates the most crisp and beautiful edges that I have ever seen on any watercolor paper. The paper is not produced in that way anymore, and I only have a few sheets left. However, this way of painting is very difficult because you can’t make mistakes (now I use staining watercolors on Hahnemuhle paper, which I still can correct a little). This meant whenever I painted on this paper, I could never predict if my painting would turn out good or bad. 😉
